Meet our trainers!
Tee
-Cert 3 & 4 in fitness
-Group Cycle instructor
Hi, I’m Tee. Born and breed in New Zealand and love leading an active outdoor lifestyle with my 2 young active boys. Along with over 8 years’ experience as a Personal Trainer, I’m also a certified wool classer in the shearing industry. Having seen the physicality of that role and the issues that many shearers in our region face, I personally like to train and coach clients in function movement and am a CrossFit Level 1 Coach. Movements where the skills can be transferred to everyday activities. I love to see clients move and perform at their best and working around any mobility restrictions.
Outside of the gym I enjoy netball, basketball and any sort of ocean diving and paddle boarding.
Mel
-Cert 3 & 4 in fitness
-Group Cycle instructor
-Pre and Postnatal coach
I’m Mel, Mum of a 4-year-old and a passionate netballer. I’ve been a personal trainer for 10 years now. Since becoming a mum I’ve completed my Pre and Postnatal Coaching Certification. Working with mums, connecting with other local health professionals and normalising exercise for the next generation has become a real passion project that really lights my fire.
In the next year I endeavor to delve deeper than the physical and complete a Mind Body Coaching Certification and an Intuitive Eating Coaching Course in hopes to help others improve their relationship with food and exercise, become at peace with their body and body image and break the dieting cycle. As I too have had to work hard to do.
Kira
-Cert 3 in fitness
-Group Cycle Instructor
-Les Mills BodyPump Instructor
Hi! I’m Kira and I have recently commenced working at HILAC after completing my Cert 3 in Fitness, whilst continuing studying my Cert IV in Fitness, as well as a Diploma in Nutrition.
I am the Head of Basketball at The Hamilton and Alexandra College and hold a number of volunteer positions in the Community including President of the Hamilton Basketball Association & coaching a number of basketball teams. I also work with Basketball Victoria, Team Managing their State Teams, and assisting with their High-Performance Programs. But what keeps me the busiest is being a mum to my almost teenage daughter.
I have always been into sports, playing almost everything on offer as a junior, however my interest in Health & Fitness really started following my own health transformation 5 years ago, undergoing Gastric Sleeve Surgery and losing 65kg. It has positively changed my life in so many ways! My journey to this point has been full of ups and downs, which ultimately gives me a great perspective on any challenges that we all face in trying to live a healthy and fun life. Whether it be physical activity or healthy eating, I can relate to the anyone who is seeking healthy choices for the body and mind.
When it comes to physical activity, I’m interested in anything and everything, whether it’s a spin class, endurance running, lifting weights, even dancing. I am also a fully qualified BodyPump instructor. I have a keen interest in working with elite athletes, having already worked alongside junior national basketball representatives, but also love working just as much with those beginning their health & fitness journey.
You can find me in the gym early mornings, after school hours, and on the weekends- come say hi!
Pam
-Cert 3 & 4 in fitness
-Group Cycle instructor
-Aqua Instructor
I’m Pam, my pathway to fitness was an indirect scenic route from a Biological Science degree into agricultural research, farmer health and then occupational health and hygiene in the mining sector. Along the way I completed a Certificate III and IV in Fitness, a WETS Aqua Instructor Course and a BICA Cycling Program and a host of other short courses, conference etc.
I have been instructing aqua classes for over a decade now and more recently have added in a few additional classes such as indoor cycling, Fit 55 and the occasional aqua PT. I’m a firm believer that exercise should be enjoyable (at least most of the time) and that variation is the spice of life hence, I challenge you to try a different class every now and then to surprise your mind and body with different movement.
I am an AUSactive registered fitness professional so if you would like more information regarding my qualifications, please feel free to look me up on the website or catch up for a chat.
Rodger
-Cert 3 & 4 in fitness
-Group cycle instructor
-Aqua Instructor
Hello, I’m Rodger. I love working part-time here at HILAC, that is, being part of a team working hard to assist you in the health and lifestyle benefits you are after.
I gained a Cert 3 & 4 in Fitness across 2019-2021 and continue to add to that professional experience. Fitness has been part of my life from late teenage years, mainly through personal activity, and then manual work in the outback for many years. On coming away from that line of work I found I needed to look after my back and tried Pilates. It worked so well, and I enjoyed it so much I thought “I’d like to teach this!” So, I did the Cert 3 and 4 mentioned above. That course required gym work and where I had tried those years before, at this new stage of life it was just right.
As someone embarking on gym fitness later in life I have an appreciation of that readjustment, that steady up-curve. The journey to Gym type fitness, or Circuit type for others, requires encouragement, patience, and perseverance, and probably best in that order! We are here to help you with this.
Sonia
-Cert 3 & 4 in fitness
-Group Cycle instructor
I’m Sonia, I achieved my Certificate 3 & 4 in Fitness back in 2018 but haven’t worked in the field until earlier this year.
I work full time in the Pharmacy Department at the Hospital so in the hours before or after that you’ll find me here, either working on the Gym floor, Lifeguarding on Pool Deck or fitting in some exercise.
I’ve been a local netball and tennis player from an early age but have recently ‘hung up the dress’ due to a couple of significant injuries. I’ve always loved netball and continue to umpire for local clubs in the area.
I am currently completing some training in Boxing for Fitness which I find to be incredibly beneficial for both physical and mental health.
Annaleace
-Group Cycle instructor
I’m Annaleace, I’ve been working at HILAC gym for around 7 years taking classes.
I take five spin classes a week, one each day, before and after work at Elders, on our family farm & studying agronomy.
I play Netball for Cavendish. I enjoy a fit, healthy & social lifestyle so I love combining fitness with social. Spin has a great atmosphere while achieving a high intensity but low impact workout suitable for all levels of fitness as you can take part at your own pace.
The classes are fun and interactive, so the time passes quickly.
